Peoples definition of portrature varies as much as the number of people asked.

I suppose to me a portraits must convey in some way a meaningful characterisitc of the subject. I admit to having a bias toward faces, as they seem to communicate more about a person than any other part of the body. The face is the universal metonymy of personhood.

Working with my subjects I try to bring out the look I feel they are working to achieve.

I have a makeup artist available to assist in our shoots if needed.
